Wolfe<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Bacon Scrapins<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<em>are the little bits of meat left in the greasy fry pan. They\u2019re tasty, but the \u2018nutrition\u2019 needs searching for. This tale is a<\/em>\u00a0<em><strong>bacon scrapin<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">All the kids from blocks around got together for a special event every year. In the rec. hall. They\u2019d gather together for talk, drinks and foods from various cultures, because the kids on the blocks around had all come from away. From somewhere else, originally, and had lots of neat things to share with each other.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">One highly anticipated event was the opportunity to meet in the main rec. hall to exchange their ideas about the latest issues of interest to them all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">The big kid that lived closest to the rec. hall thought that his ideas were best, because it was located closest to his house. \u201cNah!\u201d said the kids. \u201cWe\u2019re in this together, and you just get one say.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\u201cYou never listen to what I want, and just do what you want.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\u201cYup,\u201d replied one, \u201cthat\u2019s because your ideas are only about you, and what you can get from us, and not about sharing all our stuff. Because you have so much stuff, you don\u2019t think you need to share with everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\u201cI have been sharing my stuff.\u201d, retorted the big guy, \u201cAnd you still don\u2019t do what I want. You need to show gratitude for the stuff I share. You need to show appreciation and humility, and do what I want.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\u201cSorry,\u201d replied another one. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t work that way. The best ideas, those that are best for everyone, aren\u2019t bought with money. They\u2019re decided by all of us, by consensus or vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\u201cVoting doesn\u2019t work. I usually lose the vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\u201cThat\u2019s because,\u201d added another, \u201cyour ideas don\u2019t serve anyone\u2019s interest except your own. Your only interest is getting anything and everything you see. You have to learn how to get along in this big sandbox with others. There\u2019s more kids involved than just you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\u201cThat settles it!\u201d declared the big kid. \u201cI\u2019m cutting off any more money to support these meetings. I\u2019m going to close this meeting room to anyone else. You aren\u2019t invited to come anymore!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">I\u2019m going to start my own new group that will do what I want. It will be by invitation only. If I don\u2019t like you, if I think you won\u2019t do what I want, I won\u2019t invite you. And, if anyone gets uppity, or challenges what I want, I\u2019ll kick you out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt\u2019s gonna be my party, and you\u2019ll cry if I want you to, cry if I want you to. You\u2019re gonna cry when I make it happen to you!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\u201cWorks for us!\u201d the group replied in unison. \u201cYou form your group of fellow bullies. Try to keep control of a bunch of autocrats like yourself. See how that works out for you eventually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">One of the middle-sized guys said in conclusion, \u201cYou want to start your own party group of fellow bulllies or suck-ups. Understood. But, \u201c<em>Another way is possible: the arc of history isn\u2019t destined to be warped toward authoritarianism and exclusion \u2013 it can still bend towards progress and justice<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">All the others looked at each other as if to say, \u201cWho knew?\u201d \u201cWhere did this mid-sized guy come from?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">To a fulsome round of applause, a kid said, \u201cThat\u2019s the guy who\u2019s always telling Corny stories with a meaningful punch line. He lives on Canuck Street, up a few blocks to the north!
